Frequently asked questions

There are three types of epidemiological studies.
  • Descriptive epidemiology (studies patterns of disease in populations)
  • Analytical epidemiology (examines causes and risk factors)
  • Experimental epidemiology (tests interventions, such as vaccines)
  • By using surveillance systems, case reports, and data analysis, epidemiologists try to identify the causes and outbreaks of the disease. They analyze patterns, risk factors, and sources of infections to curb the disease among the population.
Epidemiology helps to design public health policies and various prevention programs, guide vaccination campaigns, and respond to what advisories should be taken in health emergencies like pandemics.
The core objective of the medicine division is to diagnose and treat patients for different diseases. Epidemiologists try to find out the trends in populations to curb the disease and improve overall public health.
